How to make a scrapbook?

In the age of digital photos, preserving memories in a tangible way is more important than ever. Sure, digital photography gives us so many amazing opportunities to learn, to experiment, to share, but it has at least one major downside: digital doesn’t last. Technology is advancing and sometimes huge changes happen before we have a chance to adapt to them. Just a few years ago we used to keep our photos on CDs and now there are almost no laptops with the optical drives installed – this medium is slowly disappearing.

Print, on the other hand, will always be around – changes in technology can’t influence printed photos. If you don’t want your memories to disappear, it is essential to switch from digital to analog. Scrapbooking is one of the best ways to keep your memories alive – gather your photos and special mementos and follow our tips on how to make a scrapbook with PastBook.

1. Define the theme of your scrapbook.

First of all, think of the story behind your photo book. Do you want to collect all the pictures from your recent trip? Maybe you are making a wedding album? Or you just want to collect all the year’s photos in one place? Of course, you can fill the book with random photos that are not connected to each other in any way but a themed scrapbook looks more organized and generally makes more sense.

2. Collect the material.

We rarely store photos just in one place – usually, they are scattered across multiple platforms and devices. You might want to go through your Facebook, phone library and clouds to define which photos should be in the book. Some mementos, such as plane tickets, handwritten notes, children’s drawings can be a great addition to your scrapbook – digitalize those by simply taking photos of them.

3. Create a photo book.

Go to our website and pick an option “Create a photo book from scratch” in the upper left corner. Pick a title for your book (you can always change it later) and press the big green button “Create your PastBook”. Log in with your Facebook account or email and pick the photos that you want to see in your scrapbook. Our platform will import the pictures from any source you might think of: your computer, Dropbox, Picasa, Google Photos, Flickr, Facebook, Instagram and more!
