Why “I’m not the author of the book”? What can I do?

You want to customize your book but it’s not possible to press “Customize” button, and you see the message that “You are not the author of this book”Screenshot 2016-04-04 14.46.47 No worries, we can fix it!

Only the owner of the album can edit it. If you were invited to add the photos to a PastBook, unfortunately, you are not able to customize it.

The album is yours but you still can’t edit it? The case might be, that you have more than one account on PastBook. For instance, you have been logged in with your email when you created the book and then, when you wanted to come back to the book and edit it, you logged in with Facebook. This means that you are trying to access the book from 2 different accounts, making you 2 different authors.

The books that have been created with your email account can’t be found under the account created with Facebook, so you are not able to see the book in “My Books”, as well as you can’t edit it.

You can easily switch between your accounts in two simple steps.

1. Press the “hamburger” menu button Screenshot 2016-03-21 12.59.30 in the upper left corner.

2. Hit “Sign out” Screenshot 2016-03-21 12.59.46.

Now you can log in to another account and edit your books!

I have more than one PastBook account, how can I switch from one to another?

When you have more than one PastBook account, some confusions might appear. For instance, you have been logged in with your email when you created the book and then, when you wanted to come back to the book and edit it, you logged in with Facebook. The books that have been created with your email account can’t be found under the account created with Facebook program, so you are not able to see the book in “My Books”, as well as you can’t edit it.

You can easily switch between your accounts in two simple steps.

1. Press the “hamburger” menu Screenshot 2016-03-21 12.59.30 button in the upper left corner.

2. Hit “Sign out” Screenshot 2016-03-21 12.59.46.

How can I edit/customize my book?

After creating a PastBook, you can always edit and customize it according to your tastes and preferences.

Some customizations are available when you browse your book. Click “Preview” button Screenshot 2016-03-18 19.49.50 in the upper left corner – now you can flip through the pages of the digital version of your book. On each photo you will see a pencil, a star, and a trash bin Screenshot 2016-06-27 19.12.43.Pencil means “customize”, star means “use as cover”, trash bin means “delete”. Press the pencil on any photo: now you can add a caption to it, delete it or set it as a cover.

You can also press the “Customize” button customize in the upper left corner – it will redirect you to the editing page. Now you can add more moments to your PastBook, change or remove the cover, show or hide titles and dates, reorder the photos (chronologically, manually or reverse order), expand or minimize the photos and change the page color.

We also have some add-ons for you: you can add a personal quote, remove or change the logo on the back-cover or add back-cover photo, and get a short URL and QR-code to your book. These add-ons are optional and you will have an access to them during the check-out process.

You can see the changes you are making in your PastBook in the real time: a preview window is always on the lower left corner.

How can I change the background color?

When you have two photos on the page, by default, the background is a blurry image of the first photo on the page. If you have one photo per page, it occupies the entire page, thus, no background.

You can always change the color of the background: go to the editing page (by pressing the “Customize” button customize in the upper left corner), then “Page color” page color - background

There is a range of colors you can choose for the background: from dark purple to bright yellow, whatever mood you want to convey in your story!

When you organize your book on the page with the storyboard (in order to find it, press the button “Rearrange” rearrange photos in the editing menu), the background color in your book is white, even if you have set a different one. Don’t worry, the storyboard just helps you to organise the pictures, it doesn’t give you the real preview of the book. In order to see how the backgrounds look like, check out the “Book Preview”.
